Month: November 2018

Open Volunteer Orientations

Everyone needs a home for the holidays.
We are thrilled to offer OPEN ORIENTATIONS throughout the month of December to those who’d like to join our Tierra Madre volunteer family.
Open orientations include a tour of the ranch, a rundown of daily tasks and chores volunteers typically do throughout their shifts, and a brief horsemanship safety course during which you will get up close and personal with the gentlest of our herd!
These orientations will be taking place every Sunday in December: the 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th. Each Sunday, we’ll have an orientation at 8am and one at 10am.
No application or sign up is required to attend an open orientation. (There will be a waiver for you to sign upon arrival to the ranch, plus a small packet given to you for your review if you decide to become a volunteer, which we hope you do.)
All ages are welcome! Those aged 17 and under must have their parent or legal guardian sign a waiver on his or her behalf.
Stick around afterward to talk with our crew or hang out with a horse that spoke to you.
We can’t wait to meet you!

Giving Tuesday 2018

Save the Date Stacked with Date
To our valued friend and supporter,
Every year, Tierra Madre Horse & Human Sanctuary joins a global giving movement that has been built by individuals, families, organizations, businesses, and communities all over the world. On the Tuesday that follows Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, millions of people come together to strengthen their communities and support the causes in which they believe.
Giving Tuesday calls to the best humanity has to offer. Its participants embody the beauty of compassion, a sense of hope, a fierce commitment to activism, and a desire to make the world a better place.
On November 27th, we invite you to join that movement.
This is our first year participating in Giving Tuesday under our new name and new mission of helping both horses and people from all walks of life. At Tierra Madre Horse & Human Sanctuary, we witness a circle of healing between human and horse that is incredibly unique and special.
By donating to Tierra Madre Horse & Human Sanctuary during our Giving Tuesday campaign, you help us to continue our mission of providing healing to anyone who needs it.
You give a non-verbal child on the autism spectrum the chance to communicate with our horses in an unspoken, miraculous language that only they understand.
You create an opportunity for a man who lived in a halfway home for a decade to become a hardworking member of society because he had the chance to muck stalls, clean water tubs, and interact with friends in a safe place.
Most importantly, you become a part of the circle of healing that has existed between human and horse for centuries.
On behalf of all of us here at Tierra Madre, I would love for you to consider a contribution toward our Giving Tuesday campaign goal of $10,000.
Our goal is to create an emergency medical fund that will allow us to continue providing the best veterinary care for our horses in all circumstances. With over $60k in medical expenses in 2017, having an emergency fund will give us a needed cushion when the unexpected happens.
With your help, we know we can reach our goal. Every act of generosity counts, and it means even more when we give together.
Please donate today by mailing your contribution in the enclosed, self-addressed envelope or by going to our website: Be sure to show your support for Tierra Madre on social media with hashtag #TierraMadreGives!
From all of us here, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for joining this powerful giving movement and for being a part of the Tierra Madre family.
